This is the oldest Taoist temple in Kuala Lumpur, built in 1864 by Kapitan Yap Ah Loy for two deities who helped “guide” him during the Selangor Civil War. The temple is unique in that the two main deities worshipped were not traditional deities originating from China, instead two local persons were elevated to the status of deities based on their merit. This monument has seen the early days of Kuala Lumpur City and withstood the test of the changing times.
